Ankle injury For Demba Ba

An awful Craig Gardner tackle on Demba Ba yesterday in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Sunderland had left the striker writhing in pain in his ankle, before being subbed for Torres at half time. What slips past me is how Gardner isn't sent off for that tackle ! For me, it's a red card even before he touched Ba.

During his regular post-match rambling, Rafa Benitez had the following to say regarding the Ba situation.

When you make a change at half-time, it's never 'fine'," said Benítez. "It's too early to say how serious it is but it's a problem with his ankle. We'll see on Monday. The tackle was a heavy tackle but we don't know now. -Rafa Benitez. Source: Guardian
While that isn't much to take away from, we hope that Ba recovers fully before next weekend, making him fit enough to face the crucial Chelsea Drogba FA Cup semifinal vs. Manchester City. As he isn't eligible for the Europa League second leg vs. Rubin Kazan (more on that later), it should give him a buffer period to recover, as we certainly cannot expect Torres, however resurgent, to start vs. City just two days after making the trip to Moscow. Get well soon Dembabinho ! Meanwhile you can wish him a speedy recovery on his Twitter.

  1. Hope he's back soon.. we really need him right now. Even if Zorres/Torres is 'back', we can't afford to be trolled again!
